Prolonged numbness and soreness after knee injury

by bluejeansnlace, Nov 06, 2009 10:49AM
I am a "young" 48 year old woman in good shape and injured my knee while on a tread mill.  I was jogging fairly slowly and  felt severe pain all of a sudden.  I went to the doctor and got an MRI, I was told it was a contusion of the bone and should heal up, but could take up to 6 weeks.  Well that was 8 weeks ago, Iv'e tried to resume working out with yoga and quite a lot of walking.  I still experience numbness and soreness.  Am I doing too much?, I dont want to reinjure my knee, it really put me out of commision, I was on crutches due to the pain being so bad.  I enjoy being active and want to get back to normal.  Please help with advice.
Thanks,
bluejeansnlace

Hello!

You would need an examination on the present day to know if your bone contusion has healed or not.

Do not put undue pressure and only do walking and some forms of exercises which do not cause and pain and inflammation at your knee.

Let the MRI be commented by an expert radiologist to make sure that you do not suffer from any ligament tears or any other damage in the knee.

Take care!
