Removal of clavical hardware?

I am in a bit of a quandry here. Two years ago I fell and broke my left clavical. I had to have surgery to reconnect the bones. I'm left with a strap of metal and ten screws that are painfull. X-rays show that my bone is fully healed. My doctor says he can remove it now but I'd like a second opinion or any advice out there from someone that has had this done. I have great insurance and can travel anywhere in the country for the second opinion and surgery. I've searched the web but can't find a reliable rating service for doctors. Does anyone have any direction to steer me in or a simular experience?
