Road RAsh

hey , i had and accident 3 days ago i was on motorcycle, my speed was around 40 km/hr so i fell on the side of footpath and my right leg got injured pretty bad i went to the hospital and they washed the wound and all, gave me some medicines like pain killer and told me too clean my wound twice a day and apply ointment on it i'm doing it all. so i have a road rash from my knee to ankle and and in 3 days it improved a bit in 2 days i didnt see much puss weeping around a littile bit is okay i guess. but now as its starts drying i'm feeling so much pain whenever i try to standup i feel pain for like 5 minutes and its insane its so hard to bear it, its like something starts exploding in my leg then i feel fine after that like i can walk slowly but i dont feel that kind of pain after that but when ever i try to stand up again then its start happening again my ankle is swelled up too and there is bit of swelliing and the redness too now i'm worried what to do is it normal or should i see a doc?

Hi there - I'm not a doctor, so I can't give you a definite answer, but I can tell you that I've had the same experience before with a couple of very bad, deep bruises, and also a very extreme sunburn.  I *think* it happens due to the inflammation and swelling, and then when you stand, the blood rushes down and somehow causes severe pain that goes away after a few minutes.  In my case, elevating the leg(s) and using ice packs helped.

Are you still on painkillers? If you're not on prescription pain killers, you might want to try taking an OTC anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen to help relieve the pain.  As with anything, if it doesn't get steadily better, or if it worsens, definitely go to the doc.
