Sacrum Problems

When I was 33 a doctor confirmed that my coccxy was knobby most likely due to a fall, but that I would be okay. I am 56 and I feel discomfort and eventual pain if I sit too long. I am going to the doctor soon, but I am in the midst of a hectic schedule and cannot go now. Can anyone give me an idea of what this is an indication of? I think I am just getting old, and body parts are starting to deteriorate. Should I just get a donut pillow and live with it? I don't seem to get a specific diagnosis whenever I go to my doctor. Any ideas, suggestions appreciated.
