Sclerotic Lesion
I had a ct done and a small heterogeneous sclerotic lesion is seen in the posterior aspect of the acetabulum measuring 8mm was found, could you please explain this to me in english and if this could be serious?
Size is very relative. It is all about how you feel, the location, structures around the lesion, etc. It is best for you to discuss this with your doctor with the films in front of you so you understand it better.
Thank you so much for your input and i'm sorry to bother you but would you consider 8mm to be a big size for the lesion. I initially went in for hip pain, thanks so much for your time!!
Without knowing your medical information and as to why the test was ordered:
- a sclerotic lesion is a bone mass
- heterogeneous means it is made up of different things
- the acetabulum is the head (upper end) of the femur (the thighbone) that fits into the ball-and-socket joint that forms the hip
You should ask the doctor who ordered this since he knows your medical history if this is serious.
