Several Herniated Discs

About 3 weeks ago I woke up on a Sunday feeling fine. After about 2 hours I started having back pains. As the days went on my back pains got worse. The pain started in my upper back and neck. On Wed. my left arm went numb. The pain was getting worse as the days went on and I wasn't able to even sleep at night. I ended up going to the ER (recently left job and not insured). Had several x-rays done. DR said I had several herniated discs in my back, gave me medrol dose pack, and norco, and sent me to see another Dr. It's been a week since I've been off the medrol, and all out of norco. I know I have a pinched nerve because I have no feeling in my left arm. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself? How long should I expect this pain to keep going on.

Three weeks ago you were fine.
Did you have symptoms prior to three weks ago? How were your back and arms before that time?
Had you had any MRI's or x-rays prior to then?

Hi,
Has you have posted about the herniation of disc at multiple levels in the cervical as well as thoracic region, the numbness of your left upper limb experienced by you could be secondary to nerve root compression by the herniated discs.
This requires an neurosurgeon's or  orthopedic surgeon to examine you as both of them deal with the spinal problems.
You cannot fix up all issues yourself.
Make arrangements for the doctor's appointment.
