Hi,
How are you? Pain in knee radiating to the inner part of leg and to the ankle could be due to damage to nerve supplying these areas or complete tear of meniscus or baker’s cyst. Due to wear and tear after a meniscal tear there is a chance of developing arthritis also. In some patient’s baker’s cyst that is located at the posterior part of the knee can rupture and the swelling can pass upto the foot.
It is important to get x-rays and MRI of the knee and visit a orthopedician for further assistance. Until you see a doctor it is necessary that you do not put weight on the knee, ice packs, limit activity, take anti-inflammatories and see the doctor immediately.
Best.
