Sharp pain in knee, below knee cap

by jdp5615, Oct 16, 2009 05:04PM
I am an upland bird hunter, specifically Chukar, in hunting these birds you are on steep rocky terrain. This last weekend I hiked just over 14 miles on this rough terrain. Towards the end of the day, Sunday, I was experiencing severe sharp pain in my right knee... expecting it to go away after a weeks worth of rest. Unfortunately all week it has been hurting, and not getting any better. It hurts to walk, and to move it in the wrong positions... What should I do? What could be causing this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello!

You should take rest and ice your knees to decrease the pain and inflammation. You can take some NSAIDs and if the pain does not decrease in couple of days you need to go to an orthopedician for a proper check up.

If there is a ligament tear you need to diagnose it by proper clinical examination and an MRI.

Take care!
