Slipped on ice, landed on elbow, should I see a Dr.?

A couple days ago I slipped on ice and landed hard on my right elbow. It swelled and bruised some, but is mostly gone now. I still have function for the most part, but it still aches at times, and putting ANY pressure on it hurts.  I can't even just rest my arm flat on the counter if my elbow is touching without pain. Also, it could very well just be my imagination, but when I run my finger along my elbow, near the tip of it, I think I can feel a crack. I've been active in sports, and have broken a carpal bone in my wrist, and one of my metacarpal bones as well. From those two past experiences, I can say that the pain is definately comprable, and I also tend to not swell or bruise much.

I'm away at college and we have a (quite terrible) medical center. I'd heard horror stories before, so  I was iffy on going in, but decided to this morning. The doctor asked me what happened and I told him I had slipped and fallen on it the other day.  He proceeded to ask me if I had ever had a bruise before, compared it to my other elbow for a second and noted little swelling, told me to go home and take some Advil. I informed him that yes, indeed I have had a bruise before, and that this pain was similar to what my broken wrist was like, but that apparently didn't mean anything to him, as he said talking x-rays would be a waste of radiation.

So this is my question- Should I take what this guy said, assume it's nothing more than a bruise, and leave it at that. Or should I go to the actual hospital here in town and see what they have to say? I'm afraid that since externally, I don't have the typical tons of bruising and swelling and loss of function, that another doctor will just say the same thing. But the thing is, I didn't have any of those 'signs' with my other fractures, either. Could I have bruised the bone? I don't know much about bruised bones.  I know that if this is fractured, it isn't a really serious displaced fracture, it's probably just a crack. Should I even bother with it?

Thanks!
