Slow Healing Fracture

I am a female age 44yrs. and I had a hysterectomy in Nov 2010.  An associate said that due to the lack of certain hormones present after a hysterectomy it may hinder or slow the process of healing of broken/fractured bones. Is this true?

Hi there!

Well yes, lack of female hormones post hysterectomy may be associated with slow/ decreased ossification which may sow the process of fracture healing. However though it may play a role, it is not a major factor if compensated with a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle. You may like to discuss this in detail with your treating doctor.
Hope this information helps.

Take care!
