Synvist injection

Synvist injection

Hi, I've just had no 1 injection, (yesterday afternoon), & I am in a great deal of pain still. I am unable to bear any weight on the joint. I still have another 2 to go! Are they going to get any easier. I take 50mg of MR Morphine twice a day for my pain anyway, but this pain is breaking through this & Paracetamol. Please help me by advising me as this procedure seems to be quite new still in the UK.  Many thank, Toothfairytracie

Synvisc is an elastic and viscous substance made from hyaluronan which is found in normal joint fluid.
Synvisc is injected directly into the knee joint to restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. Synvisc injections are approved for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee in those who have failed to respond to more conservative therapy.
Synvisc injections are typically given once a week, 7 days apart, over a 15-day period, for a total of three injections.
To get the best results, diseased osteoarthritic synovial fluid is typically removed from the knee before the first injection.
Synvisc is considered a treatment or therapy, not a drug so you can always try and if you are lucky your pain will decrease gradually.
For pain you still have to take anti inflammatory drugs like morphine.
Take care
