Thumb Pain

Thumb Pain

I have been experiencing pain in my right thumb. I'm pretty sure it's not broken. I can bend it, but not as much as my left thumb. Someone told me it may be a hairline fracture. It wasn't really swollen to begin with. The pain has made itself apparent for a few weeks and it hurts to put pressure on it (football player).

Hello!

You would need an X-ray to diagnose your thumb pain. If you have fractures follow up with an orthopedician. Till then you should take anti inflammatory drugs to decrease the pain and inflammation and also use a splint to limit the movements.

The fracture may be in the phalanges or metacarpals and you should limit the movements for faster recovery and preventing any dislocation.

Take care!
