Thyroid Cancer?

I am so frustrated, and so tired of not feeling well.  During the past 3 years, I have been sick with a whole host of different things.  I thought my stressful job was causing the health problems.  I'm also a single Mom putting through two kids in college so financial worries add to my stress level.  I have been diagnosed with or treated for viral pnemonias, hietal hernia, h.pylori, mono, cysts/endometriosis/ademosis, IBS, dystrophic eczema, slight asthma -- among other things.  I have gone to 7 different doctors.  In addition, I appear to be having some type of thyroid problem with nodules growing.  It seems harder to lose weight, but I am also turning 50.  I am not over-weight -- just right for my height.  I had a thyroid scan done twice.  In 18 months, the nodules grew and I have one as large as 5mm besides a 6mm cyst and other smaller ones, which a CT revealed.  I sprained my knee and the x-ray showed a bone island in my leg, which is just recent.  Throughout the past 3 years, I continue to feel the same.  Very tired, difficulty breathing, bones/joint pain, soreness in my arm pits -- among other things.  The doctors seem to keep findig things and believing they are not related -- just coincidental.

Could I have thyroid cancer, which is spreading to the bones (new thing bone island)?  I have had blood work, CTs, MRI's etc. of the pelvic area, thyroid, etc.  I have had colonscopies and endoscopies.  The blood work showed my Epstein Barr was raised (immunologist said it was mono -- but my General Practitioner didn't pick up the diagnosis when she read the blood work so don't know if mono is accurate).   Immunologist tested my blood further to look at other cell counts.  He said t-cell count was off, but probably due to the mono.

Any way, I have an appointment with a new endocrinologist, and since the first one didn't do/recommend anything, do you think this is the right specialist for me to see, or should I be seeing someone else?

Thank you so much!

I have had thyroid cancer and I have had 4 surgeries already to get rid of it. I saw my primary doctor first because I had a big growth so I was referred to the endo doctor who did an ultrasound and than a biopsy. Good luck!

Has anyone ever told you to look whether or not wheat (gluten) could be making all your pain worse. It cause inflammation and if you have any autoimmune issues you will want to avoid gluten all together because gluten will make them worse.

It sounds like you are going to the right doctor. Just make sure he/she knows how to treat the thyroid correctly. My last endocrinologist was great for treating diabetes. But terrible when it came to the thyroid. The one I have now is excellent because he actually knows the thyroid.

good luck,
