Toe Surgery?

7090416?1311430169
5 weeks ago while at martial arts I pivoted on the front of my rt foot and my 4th toe was caught on the mat and "broken" I went to urgent care and they told me to buddy tape it and it should heal in 4-6 weeks. I was also given a shoe to wear. 5 weeks in I couldn't take the pain any more and went to see an ortho specialist. My x-ray suprised me. The tip of my 4th toe was leaning way over to the left. Dr was very helpful and said that the only way to fix it would be surgery. I'm scheduled for next Tuesday. He stated that I would have a pin inserted and then removed later. I was interested to have others look at the x-ray and see if #1 you have ever seen an injury like this before and #2 if you agree surgery is the only option. I trust my dr and his opinion. I'm just interested in other thoughts as well. :-) Thank you for any feed back.

Hi there!

1. Yes, seen injuries like this.
2. Yes, surgery is the only option to correct the malalignment, unless you would want to live with the deformity all you life.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!
