Trochanter Bursitis

by Genny5242, Apr 26, 2009 03:40PM
I have chronic trocanter bursitis.  Currently in both hips. The right hip is much worse than the left.  The right hip has had an IT band release and a partial bursectomy 9 years ago.  Now it has come back.  I have a strong pronation on the right which is a contributing factor and wear orthotics in my shoes. I also had made braces that include orthotics so that I wouldn't pronate so much.  ( this is recent) 3months. In addition lots of physical therapy.  Question: Has anyone used Laser for this type of Repetitive Stress Injury?  With any success?  Could the braces have caused a change in my anatomy to help cause a repeat of this? I do not want to undergo surgery again. But, previously the steroid shots did not work.

To: Dear Gennny
In trochanteric bursitis external rotation and resisted abduction of the hip causes pain so you have to prevent this and you were given orthotics in shoes.
You can get back to the physiotherapist/orthopaedician and see if these movements are causing pain again?
As you already had surgery and one steroid and do not want surgery, try out perfectly to avoid these motions which i mentioned by rearranging new braces and orthotics.
Take pain killers and you can repeat local steroid injection.
Try the best to prevent aggravating the situation, if not possible then option is repeat steroid and finally repeat surgery.
Take care and come back to us or further queries and for the laser it depends from case to case and your surgeon can only comment on this.
