Two surgeries at once??

Two surgeries at once??

I have been scheduled for shoulder surgery in which my surgeon is supposed to do an AC resection, shave my acromion, and try to repair and rotator cuff damage he sees due to a bone spur. This is so far scheduled for a week from today.

Yesterday, since I am a klutz, I rolled my right ankle, felt something snap, and fell down in the middle of a parking lot. I went to the ER, and I did have a small fracture in my right ankle. What is worse is that the doctor seemed almost positive that I also snapped a ligament in half, because he moved my ankle into a very unnatural position that it shouldn't have been able to be moved into.

I called my doctor's office this morning, and told the receptionist what had happened. Apparently they had already received the X-ray report, detailing why they think the ligament has snapped. This receptionist called my surgeon while he was IN SURGERY, to ask what to do, and he wants to see me immediately Saturday morning.

My question is, can doctors repair two things in one surgery? I'm already scheduled for shoulder surgery on the 18th. If he were to have the time, would he be able to also repair the ligament in my ankle too, in the same operating room? I know they would be two completely different procedures, but I have revolved my entire academic life around this one shoulder surgery, and then by a freak accident, I severely injure my ankle. Any thoughts or experiences please?
