Type of Dr. to see

I am having pain and numbness radiating from the hip to the knee.  I can't stand for too long.  Walking with support is better than standing still and sitting with the leg up is most confortable. Should I go for an MRI or to a chiropracter?
Thanks,
Nelly

If it is an acute pain, i.e only since couple of days then rest and take anti inflammatory drugs .

If it does not get fine visit a Physician to examine it and accordingly will refer you to an orthoapedician or a neurologist.

If you had a fall, injury or twisted your hip then i suggest you have to visit an orthopaedician immidiately.

Take care!

You can ask your Doctor to do a EMG test which is a nerve test? That would help explain why it is that you are having pain and numbness. Good luck

I would start with a chiropractor myself. It could just be a pinched nerve. If that doesn't help, then have your g.p refer you to a nerve specialist.
I had the same thing happen to me about 16 years ago. I ended up on crutches. At first they thought that it was some type of hernia...this was two days before my wedding...
I went to a chiropractor and it turned out that my hip was out of place and pinching something.
Hope that helps.
