Hello!

For bone healing there would be callous formation between the broken ends and would need 4 weeks to heal a fractured bone and then the gap closes in.

Bolt between fractured ends will surely lead to problems while healing so confirm with your orthopedician the position of the bolt.

With increase in age and other factors you have problems with healing of fractures and then the surgeon considers putting a graft so that the body takes up the tissue to heal completely.

Take care!
