Ulna nerve damage

Ulna nerve damage

My husband fell  25 feet onto concrete 11 monthes ago.  He broke his pelvis in 3 places and landed on his right arm.  He broke his arm at the elbow all the way into and broke the head of the ulna bone. and broke the humuras straight up and out the arm.  he had a 2 hour surgery the night of the fall to clean it up and order the plates that they needed.  2 days later they did a 5 hour surgery on his arm.  He has 2 plates holding his humuras together and 21 screws and bailing wire.  They relocated the ulna nerve since the hardware at the elbow was going to irratate it.  the surgeon did not see anydamage to the nerve.  He has been in occapational therapy since the surgery and has also had rotator cup surgery on that same arm.  He has had numuras EMG the last one this past monday.  The nerver in the upper arm and medial nerve are doing better on each EMG.  The Ulna nerver is not showing any improvement at all.  He is developing a Claw hand.  he has little feeling in his ring finger non on the outside of the finger or the little finger.  It stays ice cold and he says it feels like it is on fire.  We are wondering what we are looking at and if there are any surgery's that may help or hurt.  We go to the nerve doctor this next monday.  Workmans comp is wanting to settle and take him out of therapy. he is gaining strength in the upper arm.  he is still in alot of pain.  He tries to work but time he gets home he has to take Darvecet to make the pain lesson any.  Never going away.  Please Help give up some advice on where to turn and what we might expect.  And would this be classified as a disability?  Thanks for all your help.

Hello Dear,
I can understand your problem well.
Specific surgical techniques such as medial epicondylectomy, simple release of the flexor carpi ulnaris aponeurosis, and anterior transposition of the nerve could be helpful. Discuss these with your surgeon.
Tricyclic antidepressants are effective in painful paresthesias
Amitriptyline can be used if there is insomnia, while nortriptyline and desipramine are better choices when sedation becomes a problem
Mexiletine, which has been used in various forms as an antiarrhythmic and local anesthetic, tends to blunt some of the stinging and burning of neuropathic pain in some patients
Gabapentin and pregabalin are the additional and effective options for neuropathy.
