Is there any kind of test I can have done to see if there are any tears or anything wrong with the muscles in my back?
A year or so ago..I was trying to excercise ...because it felt like the bones and the skin on my back were fused together...like there was no give or no stretch to my skin....it felt so tight.....I thought it could have been from still being a little bit over my normal weight from a baby I had 11 years earlier.....anyway...I did alot of stretching, of my back ...
I think that after I did this....was when I started getting the burning sensation in the
right side of my back...from about 1/2 way down my back to my waist ...on the tissue part (or the meaty part of my back)....and that too is where it gets hard and i have contractions.....its about the size of a football.....
without a diagram its hard to describe......but is there anything ...x rays...? or any test i can have done on the tissue...parts of my back...
thank you
Hello dear,
Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses or pain sensations that are sent to your brain.Usually it does not aggravate the pain but some of its side effects may be sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body.It could be possible that the repetition of dose might have aggravated the pain. You should followup your neiroohysician.

The dr. just prescribed cyclobenzaprine 10 mg. tablets....
I took 1 ...did not feel like it was doing anything.....my shoulders were still arched up to my ears...(i think i also have a pinched nerve in my shoulder so my shoulders are always up)......
so about 2 1/2 hours later i took one more............ugh.......it sent the pain into high gear....seems like it aggravated my back......because...i was having pains all over my back in spots.....even in the lower back.....on the muscle parts....(not near the lumbar though).....where i never had pain before...
so obviously i should not take this kind of medicine....muscle relaxer......
and why would it do that?
Thank you dr. I am way past the ibuprophen, naproxen, tylenol pain level. I have an appt. with spine clinic on th 17th...but dont have any pain meds till then...only the 4 vicadans left from going to the hospital...and by tomorrow those will be gone........
Hello Dear,
Treatment options are geared toward pain relief. Pain medications such as NSAIDs, corticosteroids orally or injected, anti-spasm drugs, anti-convulsants to help with the burning pain, and in some cases, narcotic pain relievers are given. You should go in for Physical therapy such as hydrotherapy, massage, and hot/cold therapy.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a treatment in which a painless electrical current is sent to specific nerves through electrode patches that are placed on the skin. The mild electrical current generates heat that serves to relieve stiffness, improve mobility, and relieve pain
Treatment methods should be focused on pain relief and maintaining quality of life.Although slow, usually these conservative treatments relieve pain.Surgery should be the last option as the results are not consistent and is not always successful.
