Upper right arm pain

In Oct, I noticed an ache in my bicep/tricep area. It is not constant but certain ways I use it makes it very uncomfortable.  I have not lost strength in my hand and I can still use the arm but cautiously.  Went to a local medical clinic and after examine by PA, she felt it was a pulled/strained muscle (altho I don't recall any incident of injury).  Waited it out until Nov and returned to see another PA-xray revealed the bone's integrity is fine.  In Dec (with no improvement)I am going to a chiropractor who xrayed and showed me some mild compression of the neck vertebrae in 5 and 6 so he is working on that, however, he also noticed that it is probably a motor nerve problem as I cannot reach behind my back very far. When he tested my arms folded up to the shoulder and ask me to exert force on his hand, I could not bear much force with this arm and had pain.

The ache/pain keeps me up alot of nights--not that it is so severe but just that dull ache that doesn't allow me to sleep. Sometimes the pain is also in my wrist/elbow or very tip of my shoulder.

Am I aproaching the problem correctly?  I do find I now have a small amount of mobility (putting my arm over my head comfortably) that I didn't have for a while. Could this be Parson-Turner Syndrome from the flu shot?

Thank you for your great web site.  It is a relief to be able to "talk" to someone who isn't in a hurry to see the next patient. You're doing a great job and service for all.

I just recently was released from the hospital because of my left arm pain.  I awoke with excrutiating radiating left arm pain with eventual numbness and loss of motor strength and limited range of motion.  It took a couple of days to get pain control, now I just have the dull ache at my wrist and elbow.  Diagnosis was Brachial Plexus Neuritis or Parson-Turner Syndrome.  I have had many tests done which discovered I also have disc disease C5-C7 so this has also contributed in part to my diagnosis.  Don't give in to the age thing or the fibromyalgia without a neurological test of some sort.

It hurts to touch it and I can't sleep on it. One chiropractor said its just from life. I am having a back surgery March 8th lower lumbar decompression with internal fusion. I have foced on that mostly. One Dr I saw today mentioned fibromyalgia. I am 53 yrs old & feel like I am falling apart. I still work full time at the Post Office on the window for 16 yrs now.

I have the same problem.  I went to see my husband's orthopedic surgery (husband just had surgery for rotator cuff tear, labral tear and spurs removed).  My pain also upper right arm and can't reach above head, behind me or push down on that arm.  X-ray shows I have some bone spurs.  Dr. wasn't sure if the spurs have damaged the rotator cuff as that would require an MRI.  He is starting out with just physical therapy (go 3 times a week) and wanted me to take anti-inflammatory meds, but stomach couldn't tolerate those.  I go back next week for checkup.  Dr. said we may try cortezone injection next time to see if that helps.  After that will require MRI to see if rotator cuff or labral tendon is torn.  Good luck!
