WEIGHT BEARING AFTER POST ORIF

by seanty, Feb 17, 2007 12:00AM
i had undergone a surgery to fix my fractured leg, specifically the tibia. They nailed an intramedullary rod inside. My concern is, what would happen if i bear weight too early like 6 weeks? the doctor advised me to use crutches for 3 months but gee now im limping without it, what would be the possible effect?

Early weight bearing can damage the healing bone and cause complications.  It's important to follow the surgeon's recommendations to prevent worse problems from happening
