Wear particles from polyethylene liner and ceramic ball

Wear particles from polyethylene liner and ceramic ball

Hello:

I had a total hip replacement in 1998 and as of February 2010, x-rays show that my prosthesis is fine. However, since 2007 I have had weakness in my upper thigh that physical therapy couldn't cure, so I'm currently see a neurologist to try and figure it out.

I was wondering if, rather than this being a neurological problem, wear particles from the polyethylene liner and ceramic ball could be negatively affecting the muscles. I know that stuff is supposed to be well-tolerated by the body, but I'm desperately searching for an answer to this. Thanks!
