What is Ilarazo Procedure consist of?

my son had a dyscoid menixus a birth defect.  when it was attempted to fix to make normal his Keloid factor for scar tissue was very active and therefore after 5 different types of surgery he is left with a crippled leg.  he was 7 when first surgery began and now is 15 yr. old.  he would like to have it fixed.  the doctor suggest the ilarzo type surgery.  Could you give me an explaination of this and how it works?  would you also let me know if there are sites i can research.  thank you. jt-usa

Ilizarov technique will be ideal at his age where the leg bones are cut, stretched fixed with screws and are allowed to grow in length so that both of his legs would be of same length.
At his age bone growth will take faster and as his bones have not ossified, this is a method to increase the length of bones.
