What is the treatment for meniscus & bakers cyst in knee?

My husband had an MRI and they found he had meniscus & a bakers cyst in knee....what is the treatment for these problems? He is a fireman for the last 30 years, will he be able to go back to his job. Thanks!

Hi, A Baker's cyst is the result of synovial fluid, which lines and lubricates the knee joint, escaping from the joint capsule. Although some Baker’s cysts need no treatment and heal over time, this is usually not the case. Treatment of bakers cyst involves arthroscopic surgery to remove excess fluid and tissue causing swelling of knee joint. The knee will be bandaged with a well-padded dressing and a splint for support after the surgery. I hope this helps. All the best.
