When can I turn to spinning?

Alright I've had I guess major surgery, but the doctor claims he has done more on knees than what he did to my knee.  He reattached the ligment to the knee cap and part of the cartilidge that was torn.  He also put the knee cap into place that was dislocated.  Yeah I have 12 staples all together and a pretty decent incision into me.  And a lot of pain associated with it.  I just want to get off my tush and start spinning again as soon as I can so every day I push myself to even stand by myself or walk by myself without crutches and a lot of the time I fail. I mean I should be able to support myself on full weight after this surgery right?  Or is it going to take a lot of pt and time to build the ligaments and cartilidge I tore up when I dislocated my knee cap from my leg?  I'm just getting frustrated I know its only been about less than week after surgery, but I want to exercise again so that I don't gain back the weight I lost.  For others that have had more extensive or the same surgery as me how long did it take you walk normally again and resume vigorous physical activity.
