Will dry needling help my inflammed ligament?

Will dry needling help my inflammed ligament?

I had an ankle arthroscopy operation in April this year for an ankle injury which occured when I fell over in April 2009.  I have received 9 x physio sessions but there is no improvement.  I am still using a walking stick and unable to do normal activities.  My consultant referred me for an ultra sound as he feels I may have a nueroma.  The pain is indentical to that prior to the operation so I feel I have taken a step backwards.  The radiographer however, referred my case back to consultant advising that an MRI scan would give a better prognosis.  I saw consultant two weeks ago and as i previously had an MRI, he gave me some cortisone injections into the two scar incisions and although the inflammation has gone, I am still in alot of pain.  Saw consultant again today privately as this has gone on for too long (18 months and my company are looking to terminate my employment if I cannot return to work in nine weeks time, when my sick leave ends) I had an ultrasound - the radiographer says that there is no nueroma however, I do have an inflammed ligament in my ankle (other two ligaments are fine) and it measures 3.02 when it should normally measure 0.74 so over 3 times the size.  I also have some inflammation around that area.  He is referring back to consultant and will suggest that I have dry needling to help this.  I have few concerns as will this guarantee a full recovery in time or are there alternative options I should be looking into.  At this stage, any help would be appreciated!
