Winging Scapula(shoulder blade)

What treatment should I seek for a winging scapula(shoulder blade)?  I have tried Physical Theraphy, accupunture, cordizone injections, medical massages, and medicine.  I had neck surgery C5 and C6 plasma disc decompression laser surgery in July 2008. My shoulder(winging scapula) is unbearable.  It makes popping noises and hurts when I sit for long periods of time.  My MRI shows no winging scapula bc mri for winging will not show results.  I also had two EMG which were negative, states no nerve damage.  I do have tingling in my pinky and index finger, most of the pain is in the shoulder blades. Feels like a constant stabbing, popping noise. Please let me know what else I could do other than my last result which is surgery. Thank YOU

I do understand your problem well. Do you also have associated scoliosis? If yes then it would further make the management difficult.

A winged scapula is associated with damage or a contusion to the long thoracic nerve of the shoulder and / or weakness in the serratus anterior muscle. If the long thoracic nerve is damaged or bruised it can cause paralysis of the serratus anterior muscle and winging of the scapular or shoulder blade.
Damage to the nerve can be caused by a contusion or blunt trauma of the shoulder, traction of the neck and can also sometimes follow a vial illness.
Surgical decompression and neurolysis of the long thoracic nerve significantly improve scapular winging in appropriate patients, for whom these techniques should be considered a primary modality of functional restoration
