I have a pain on the dorsal part of my wrist for about 3wks now. (directly even with my middle finger.) I'm unsure as to how i injured it. Gym, or possible arm wresting practice. I'm a professional armwrestler, so don't laugh :)
The pain ONLY occurs when I perform a pronation motion (along with applying pressure.) Which this motion is crucial in my sport. No matter what else I do, i'm pain free.....only pronation.
I did see an ortho last Tuesday. He took X-rays, and gave me and injection. (which wore off in 2 days) He really couldn't tell me much about what might be causing the pain. He said my scaphoid was positioned more at a 90 degree angle, rather than the typical 60 degree angle. And it looks like I may have an old fracture that healed. Which if I remember right, I may have fractured it about 15-20yrs ago) - He said this "may" be causing stress on the spot that hurts, but couldn't tell me much more. He suggested a second opinion from a veteran ortho (go figure.)
I told him it hurt under the knot on the top of my wrist. Well he told me that "knot" was not normal, but never specified what it might be. It was only with my research later on, that it seems like I may have a small ganglion cyst. I have the same knots on both wrist. They've been there a while and I never experience any pain before. I'm just trying to get a better diagnosis before I spend more money by going to another ortho. I've been icing it every night, but it's not really helping any. So I'm not sure if the pain is from a bone, tendon, ligament, cyst, etc....!!
Hopefully you guys can provide a little more info, and point me in the right direction.
