Wrist fracture

I fractured my left radius bone a week and a half ago.   I got my 2nd cast Wed,  it is driving me crazy.  My knuckles hurt to move them and my finger is triggering but it feels like a throbbing ache all the time.   How long can I expect to be this uncomfortable and when will I be able to switch to a brace?  It was a simple fracture according to the Xray, doesn't feel simple though, LOL.

I am having surgery in the morning.  It was hurting so bad because when the swelling went down the bones shifted

I got my report today and it says, partially impacted acute transverse fracture of the most distal radius, question of vertical component extending into and involving the arterial surface.  Satisfactory position and alignment of the fracture fragments.

Does this sound like a simple fracture?  It does sound like a good reason to be hurting like I am.   I will just have to be patient.

Casts are no fun! I know it stinks but hang in there! I am sure in another week or so you'll start to feel better but until then take ibprophen for pain and elevate your arm whenever you think about it. Fractures normally take 4-6 weeks to heal totally and since yours was "simple" it should be on the shorter end of recovery. Depending on how quickly you heal is what decides when you get your brace. Hopefully it will only be a couple more weeks!! Good luck and I'm sorry your so uncomfortable!
