Wrist pain pump

by Phill614, Sep 17, 2009 10:57AM
in apr. 2008  i had surgery for a small TFCC tear, a pain pump was installed and stayed in for 3 days. i've had 2 more surgeries 02/2009 and 06/2009 and still in cronic pain, i've changed doctors and will be getting a total wrist fusion at the end of oct. I have read that pain pumps have caused destruction of the cartilage shoulders called Chrondrolysis. Can this happen to the Wrist i can't find anything or any links. my wrist is now bone on bone and prior to the first surgery my x-rays showed healthy bones and excellent spacing between the bones if that makes any sense. the medication in the pain pump was marcaine.  is there a doctor that specializes in hand and wrist thats apart of MedHelp?  thanks for your time  Phill

I am making a comment to myself for all, i've had this question posted since sept 17th and asked one of the sports medicine doctors about pain pumps (Michael L Gross, MD) and of course no answer.  i also checked other post that comments about pain pumps and again no comments by the doctor.  it is of my opinion that these doctors use the pain pump in there surgeries and don't want to comment about the possibility of what real harm they cause.  if anyone has any comments about pain pumps what were installed after a surgery please i'd like to know about it.  thanks  Phill
