Wrist pain

I have carpal tunnel in my wrists and lately they have both been bothering me quite a bit. Last night I moved my right wrist while I was sleeping and something popped and the pain woke me up. This morning hurts if I move it side to side and it seems to be when I move my thumb up or back. I can not put any type of weight on my wrist as it hurts. Any ideas? Should I go to my primary are md? I am going to get a brace in the mean time. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

doesn't looks like a carpal tunnel causing this problem. You are right, you should go to your family physician for a brief chitchat and see whether all is well or not.
Have you done NCS(nerve conduction study) for the carpal tunnel diagnosis? If it shows a considerable amount of constriction, it's advisable to go far a small surgery.
