ankle and calf pain

in  nov 95   i fell off roof 40 feet landing in a rock garden  shattered my left ankle and arm  it is now  2011   i still suffer pain in my ankle i have  screws wire and  plates holding it  together   i can  enjoy   a walk with my dog with  out  sharp pain in ankle  and a weakness feeling in  my calf muscle   if i stand  for long periods  of time  my leg  burns  from the
knee  down  this  has been going  on  for  5yrs  now  hard  to  sleep at night   for the throbeing  pain in leg and  ankle what can be  done about this

Well, without an evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of pain in your case. Possibilities include hardware related causes, ligament sprain, re-fracture/ trauma, tendon/ ligament tears, nerve impingement/ pressure/ trauma, infections, bursitis, tendonitis, arthritis, etc. It would be best to get this evaluated by an orthopedician/ sports medicine doctor. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly.
