ankle fusion

I was just told that I would benefit from an ankle fusion or an ankle replacement. However,my OS feels I'm too young for a replacement therefore, ankle fusion is my only option. My question is,is it possible to have an ankle replacement after it has been fused for say 5-10 years? Thanks for your time!

Hi there!

Yes, you could have an ankle replacement after a fusion; though it would be better to discuss the options in detail with your orthopedician.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!
