anuerysmal bone cyst VS osteochondroma

by tanns, May 31, 2007 12:00AM
My son has a bone growth on his left 8th rib.  After a xray, CT scan and an MRI, they can only narrow down the possibilities to the bone cyst or osteochondroma.  They are telling us that we need to:
1) check it every four months with CT's
2) biopsy it

My son is only 5 and neither one of these options are great.  I was wondering if anyone knew of anything else or somewhere else that could distinguish between the two possibilities?  I've called a couple surgeons, they want to see him and then decide if they will do the surgery.  I can't afford to go from doc to doc for someone to decide.  Either they do or they don't.  Okay, now I'm rambling.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate them!!

Take care all!!
