broken tibia and fibula

I broke my tibia and fibula on oct 10th/2010, and had surgery, and plates and screws put in on both bones. It is now january 6th/2011. Im still not walking, or putting any pressure on it, and the doctor said that it is healing very slowly.. when i take off my boot brace, my foot is very crooked when it is flat on the ground. the doctor doesnt seem to know what is wrong. he said that the ex-ray looks straight, and everything looks good. it looks like my foot is just flopping over to the side.. i am concered that this will always be like this.. does anyone know if this is normal? please get back. thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

After a proper successful orthopaedic surgery with plates and screws, boot brace and rest; complete healing will take place in 16-20 weeks for tibia and fibula fractures.

Age is a factor and the amount of physical activity you do is the second factor. Proper blood circulation if restored after the injury your healing will be faster.

In younger individuals the healing is good and fast.

I would suggest you to have patience and seek a second opinion.

Take care!
