bruising and swelling help?

i banged my left leg on a wooden shoe rack yesterday, that was left open. its about 10 cm above the ankle and a 7 cm bruise that goes from the middle of my shin to the outside of my leg and the swelling is all around the bruised area, i can put some weight on it although it is sore my foot goes cold but then its ok again, the swelling has not got any bigger it is staying the same but it is raised slightly and very painful to touch, but the bruise is still growing, is this normal for a bang
now i am experiencing a burning sensation and a little bit of swelling on my ankle

Yes, this is normal reaction after injury to any body part and occurs due to damage to the soft tissue/ superficial blood vessels and the associated inflammation. This is likely to subside in 7-10 days. You may try resting the leg and some vitamin C tablets to help with the healing process. I would also suggest consulting your primary care physician and getting x-rays done to rule out injuries such as fractures etc.
