can i still be a kickboxer????

can i still be a kickboxer????

I broke my left tibia and fibula after falling 3.5m from an indoor rockclimbing wall last week. It was a open compound fracture. I had emergency orthopedic surgery where a metal rod and 2 screws were placed in my leg. I have been told to put no pressure on my leg for at least 6 weeks and am basically bedbound.

My first question is how long till i can get into kickboxing training again...and will i ever be strong enough to be a competitive kickboxer???

Secondly, what exercises can i be doing in bed without disrupting my recovery??? And should i be taking any supplements to help strenghten my bones whilst healing??? Iam a very fitness conscience person and its very important to me to maintain my muscle tone whilst being bedbound.

Thanx babykick  : )

You would need atleast 3 months recovery  time and another 3 months of Physiotherapy.

After 6 months your operating Orthopaedician can assess your condition and send you for strengthening exercises. If you have good revovery then after a year you can go for mild training and you should not go for any sort of kick boxing till your Orthopaedic surgeon gives you a go.

Take all the medications as prescribed, hygiene is important as infections are common in orthopaedic surgeries. Take balanced diet with protein and some calcium supplements.

Take care!
