chronic pain after tendon surgery

I had surgery to repair tendon in ring finger two weeks ago. First off the incisions made were way more than I expected, it went from middle of my palm to til bout 1/2 inch from tip of finger on both top and bottom, Dr said he had to pt two pins in my finger. Now I'm told I will have to have joint replacement due to extensive damage to my knuckles and joints. The pain and swelling are horrible and I can not move nor feel my ring finger still. Is this normal for tendon damage being repaired? If I would of known this would be so painful I never would of gone through with surgery.

tendons take a long time to heal: long time is 6 months. I had a trigger finger release and had similar issue. Doc said it takes time for tendons to heal. and yes, it will hurt for a time.  the six months passed, now I am totally pain free.
