dislocated patella

hey hope someone can help me i dislocated my patella six weeks ago and i still cant bend my knee all the way with out alot of pain is this just from the knee being straight for so long and muscels are just tight i can walk just cant bend it

Hi,

You did not mention the treatment you have taken for dislocated patella. In majority of cases physical therapy for strengthening quadriceps muscle and pelvic stabilization exercises help. Bracing and tapping of the kneecap is controversial. If symptomatic relief is found with a brace or tape, it can be continued.

Patients who are not cured by conservative therapy, may require surgery, especially in patients who have significant pain or recurrent dislocation.
