Hi!
It all depends on the symptoms in your hands and back. If you do not have any symptoms in your hands like pain/ tingling or which is not disturbing your daily life we advise you to take preventive measures and try to delay the surgery.
Surgery should be your last option.
Lifestyle changes like proper footwear, maintaining BMI, balanced diet, exercise to strengthen your back muscles, proper position while sleeping, working, sitting should be followed.
Take care!
