exercises for sacroiliac joint stablization?

exercises for sacroiliac joint stablization?

I had chronic right-sided pelvic pain for years along with a tight right hip---and they seemed related. Recent surgery found bands of fibrous scar tissue that had strictured my appendix and plastered it to my pelvic sidewall. Pelvis feels a bit better, but hip still hurts. In a PT evaluation the therapist said I had a hypermobile right SI joint and needed to stablize my right hip. I can't afford to go to therapy. What exercises should I do for this? What would've caused these problems?

Thanks,
Charlotte

Hello!

The best diagnosis can be given by scans and examination by an orthopedician.

Pilate’s exercises focus on stabilizing the Pelvic girdle which, in turn stabilizes the Sacroiliac Joint.

The sacroiliac joint is not designed for a large range of motion and with injuries or by natural aging process it tends to stiffen and lock but your problem is hyper mobile right SI joint.

I suspect in your case the SI joint might have been overused and some amount of wear and tear on the cartilage in the joint might be present.

You can start with performing range of motion and stretching exercises which help to stabilize the joint ligaments and also can start Pilates.

Take care!
