finger pain

I'm a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the  sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course.  That was over two weeks ago.  I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain.  The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger.  Any ideas?  Based upon the info and illustrations I have seen on the WWW it looks like its in the area of a ligament.  Thanks for any response. TD

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Your tendons of the hand are inserted into the bones called phalanges. When you had that cut, most probably deep enought to cut the flexor/extensor tendon  and you are having pain at the site and also in your hands with movements due to this.

Go for an Orthopaedician examination and confirm the diagnosis and you would need rest, strapping of that finger and anti inflammatory drugs to cure your problem.

Take care!
