fractured my humerus

I just fractured my humerus on my left arm I AM LEFT HANDED. I was given the same response by the doctor. WHAT IS THE ANSWER? WILL i REGAIN 100% USE OF MY ARM. PLEASE TELL ME

What type of fracture is it?  What part of the Humerus did you fracture and how?  I fractured mine (left humerus and am left handed) a couple of years ago.  I wore a hanging cast for almost a year (I had to sleep sitting up) and then I had to have surgery to put a rod and pins in it because the bone just wasn't healing.  Because they are hard to cast they can be hard to treat from what I know.  Especially depending on where it is broke and how badly.  Mine was broken mid shaft completely detached but not compound. I am 36 now but I broke it when I was 32.  I have full use of my arm and hand with no restrictions it just took a long time to heal.  It never really caused me much of a problem with my hand but even today I still have problems with pain in that arm around the initial break site from time to time.  Usually it's fine unless I have done something really strenuous.  If you need someone to talk to that has been through it you can email me at ***@**** I would be happy to offer up anything I can from my experience that may help you.  it is not a fun injury at all.

I fractured my humerus March 29.  I has been very slow to heal.  I have been in physical therapy ever since. It has suddenly become much more painful and I am trying to figure out why.  Bone scan is negative for infection but range of motion is VERY PAINFUL.
