heavy weight lifting

Will lifting heavy weights with short reps in a strength training program stunt my growth? I am 14 and have been in my growth spurt for about 2 years

Hello!

The most important thing for you to understand that if you also do other sports like:  skipping, cycling, running, swimming, basketball along with weight lifting then you will not have any problems.

Do not keep heavy weight lifting as the only sport you practice and discuss this with your coach.

To know and understand your growth spurts and physical conditions you can follow up with a physician.

Your increase in height is directly related to your genetic inheritance and also proper protein diet you take regularly. There are different hormones like growth hormones which are also responsible for your growth and this ceases by the age of 20 when all your long bones ossify, but you can gain some inches before the age of 20.

Take care!
