hip pain

I am a 40 year old female with a sacalized L-5.  I do not have pain in my back but I do have severe pain in my left hip.  The pain is worse when I walk or stand.  I have a limited range of motion.  A MRI has been done and showed fluid in the hip joint.  Do you think it could be related to my back?  What can be done to alleviate the pain.  I am waiting for an othopedic appointment.  No one seems to understand the pain I am in.  I take ultram and mobic for the pain and it does help, although nothing has made it possible for me to continue normal activities.  What could it be?

I have had back problems since childhood. at one time my hip hurt so much i thought i needed a hip replacement. there was nothing wrong with my hip. it was a nerve in my back being pinched by bone that had overgrown on the nerve from a former back fusion. the extra bone was removed and the pain in my hip has never returned. now i have severe pain in the si joint but it holds no fluid and is bone on bone. i need it fused but havent found a doctor to treat me since i had previous surgery even tho it has been twenty years since i had surgery. hope your ortho helps. some are great and others just dont care. penny
