Great! Its nice that he is a reasonable man. While youre at it, try to convince him to see an actual PT for a comprehensive examination and other exercises they could teach him at home.

As for the medicine, Im not really that good with prescription medicine so its best to ask people with extensive knowledge on them.

Happy to have help.

Oh and i forgot to mention to hold the stretch until he feels a little pain at the end range of what little range of motion he could.

What i meant will be like, if his end range is only say at 20 degree push it a bit further until there is that little pain. Its not really anything to be concerned with, it's just muscle stretch unless he specifically tells you that the pain is too much to bear and you should stop.

Isnt he sweet? He doesnt want to bother you!

Seriously, since I dont know much of what happened with his knee and it's just my assumption that it could be quads muscle tightness.

The only thing I could recommend at this point is to stretch his quads muscle. Hold the stretch at 15 sec and do it for 10 reps, atleats 3x a day. Also it could help to loosen the ligaments and relax the muscle, if you can put a hot compress around his knee for 20mins. What's good with this is heat is pain reliever.

Temperature of the compress should be at the right temperature, not too hot but not burning hot. Or if you have a hot shower that will do to, just soaked it for 20mins.

That i think is the only thing i could recommend right now. Hope it helps.

Sorry for the late reply.

I really dont know what you meant by knee surgery? If his knee was just realigned, or his knee joint complex had been replaced, there is that tendency secondary to rest and inactivity during post-op that his quad muscles have shortened/tightened. Its still best to see a physical therapist, just bring in his past or recent xray or mri.

As for the arteries, i dont think so unless his doctor have said so. Problem with arteries are rather best to be asked from a doctor.

Had he been to physical rehab after knee surgery? It could be that his quads muscle have tightened and may need quad stretches.

But still go and see an actual PT to have him assessed.
