knee injury result of being hit by vehicle

Hi-I was walking in a parking lot, 11-17-2006. A truck back over me, and I experienced trauma to my entire body.  I did not feel as though I needed immediate medical assistance, just was sore all over.  I fell over on my right side, and hit my right hip, right knee.  The following morning, I could not walk, and still felt dazed and sore all over from the impact of hitting the pavement.  I went to a UrgentCare, and presented with just complaints of pain on my right side.  They took Xrays of my right hip and RIGHT knee, which were negative, and prescribed main meds.  Within the next 10-14 days, I began to experience severe pain in my LEFT knee, and eventually had an MRI with the following results: Nondisplaced fracture of the fibular head, significant posterolateral bone contusion of the lateral tibial plateau, and small tear at the posterior horn of medial meniscus.  My attorney is now telling me, my settlement with the insurance company is ruined because I did not complain of the left knee pain until 10-14 days after the accident.  Especially the day following at UrgentCare.  There must be a medical explanation for the delay in the presentation of my symptoms of the left knee.  Can anyone comment?  Thanks.....js

I wasn't hit by car however, I hit my own knee while exiting a amusement park ride.  I have been to two doctors, had x-rays and have been examined.  My knee is swollen, sore to move, and warm to touch.  The doctors tell me to take IBU and ice it.  I have been doing that for 9 days now and it hurts just as much as when I first did it.  Who do I go to to request an MRI?  I don't want to wait for another week or two if I have some damage done and my PCP won't look into it.  By the sound of both of your injuries, mine is somewhat similar.  Any advise??

I can tell you from experience that knee injuries do not always show up in the hours or days following the incident. I was hit by a car while running. The only thing that hurt that day was my wrist which got stuck in the passenger side mirror. My knee which slammed into the front right quarter of the SUV did not hurt for days. Even when it started to hurt it was not that bad until 2 weeks later when I sought medical advice. I had an MRI done on it and have a bone contusion with a cyst from the impact. I (being of dumb mind) still run everyday. I was working toward a marathon this fall but sadly almost 4 weeks after the injury it is progressively getting worse and I don't see myself able to get beyond 15 miles right now. After running I can barely put weight on my knee without pain. I do take a painkiller 1 hour prior to running which probably is not a good thing either.
