messed up my cast please help!

ok .. heres what happened.. injured my hand by slamming it down on the counter top-palm down. one day later noticed area near 1st metacarpal was swelling.. like a lump .. a small one. went to get x ray 3 days later.. teh report saw a small lucent line at the base of the first metacarpal. waited for the ortho appointment. 2 weeks later.. ortho appointment came.. they told me that it was not broken... but they were casting it anyway.  after casting.. a week goes by.. accidentally got it wet... very wet.. became itchy... and i twisted the cast.. ( fiberglass i think)  the batting became bunched up.. and began making the pulse pump really hard in my hand.. hand started swelling.. i started freaking out.. and began tearing teh batting out of the cast... finally.. after i got the bunched up area out.. and everything went back to normal. i discovered the cast could come off... completely.  i got  reallyscared.
i put the cast back on.. and now.. well.. do i go back to ortho and have it recasted  ?? do i just wear it like it is i feel really stupid.. but .. when i twisted it to itch it.. the batting got all bunched up.. and it felt like the circulation was get ting cut off..the cast was supposed to stay on forf 3 weeks.. i am going into my second week.

I noticed when i pulled the cast off.. that the lump was larger.. and the area of my palm was hard, like a hard line from the tip of my pointer finger.. down the palm to where the lump is.. near the base of the first metacarpal.

any advice.????

P.S.  If you think a itchy arm-cast after the second week is bad, try a full length leg cast after the second Month :D ... been there, done that, hate the T.Shirt...

Hmm,

Either way, they will have to look at that hand...  Doesn't sound like it's getting any better inside the cast.

I would suggest you get back to the ortho.  And don't worry about it.  I am sure they will have a nice laugh about the whole affair ;D.
