my ortho surgeon sent me for a neck scan which shows significant changes

I was sent for a nerve conservation test because of deadness in my first and second fingers the test showed that i had problems in my neck not carpal tunnel as suspected, from there i was sent to an orthopedic consultant who sent me for a neck scan. he now tells me that there are significant changes in my neck and i have a narrow canal which i was born with. he has now refered me to a neurologist to see what he can do for me. I had a bad car accident 15 yrs. ago but he says the good news is that my problems are not through the accident. what can a neurologist do for me ?   i should have asked but i was taken by suprise and so i did not ask. can you help please.

Clinically,Most of patients with congenital musculoskeletal problem have nothing about pain and deadness for all life. It sounds like what you're describing is chronic soft tissue injury due to accident, which can become worse over time and lead to deadness in your first and second fingers .I guess

Take care!

hi thanks for your post. I really am in the dark about this narrow canal its the first time its been brought up. my accident was a bad one and previous to it I had no problems. At the time I was tested for fibromyalgia of which there was no signs however three years on and I had developed it quite badly so this narrow canal also makes me wonder. What do you mean by congenital excuse my ignorance but medical terms baffle me im afraid. once again thank you.

Hi,if your narrow canal was really due to congenital reason, you should pay more attention to your car accident history, even your doctor deny it.
Possibly, your neurologist may suggest injection or surgery.
